A journalist has described her experience of an AI-powered robotic massage at Qua Spa in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, as the strangest of her life. The Aescape Robotic Massage Experience is the first of its kind on the Las Vegas Strip.
Upon arrival, guests are asked for their clothing size and provided with tight-fitting athletic leggings and a short-sleeved top. This allows the robot's metallic arms to glide smoothly over the body, avoiding any discomfort or vulnerability.
The journalist admitted it took time to get used to the futuristic robot as it worked around her back and shoulders. She watched warily as the mechanical therapist targeted pressure points, but eventually relaxed as the warm base of the arms provided smooth and effective relief.
At times, the arms held their position for a few seconds, applying more pressure – initially mistaken for a malfunction, but later understood as part of the process. The ability to relieve pressure at any moment put her at ease.
The 15-minute session provided an effective release, avoiding awkward questions about pressure levels and allowing full control via a swipe of a button. The experience is available for $44 (£31) for 15 minutes or $88 (£63) for 30 minutes.
