EasyJet has named Nessebar, an ancient Bulgarian town on the Black Sea, as the cheapest beach destination for British tourists in its new Cheap Beach Index. The destination offers white sandy beaches, a UNESCO-listed old town, and pints costing less than £2, making it a top value choice for budget-conscious travellers.
Dubbed the 'Pearl of the Black Sea', Nessebar combines rich history, culture, and seaside charm. Visitors can explore cobblestone streets and enjoy a famous seafood scene, all while benefiting from affordable 'shoulder-season' deals on flights and hotels.
The Budva Riviera in Montenegro secured second place, boasting a 35-kilometre stretch of idyllic Adriatic beaches. Costa de Almería in Spain, known for Europe's only desert and golden beaches, came third. Other high-value destinations include Zadar and Nin in Croatia, Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol in Spain, and Halkidiki in Greece.
The index was compiled by analysing areas within easy reach of airports with affordable direct UK routes. Each destination was priced based on a typical holiday 'basket' including beer, ice cream, and a family meal. The rankings arrive ahead of the 'shoulder season' from mid-September to October, when many European spots still offer warm weather and near-peak flight schedules.
