British budget airline easyJet has unveiled a significant expansion of its winter schedule, introducing two brand-new destinations from its Manchester base. The move offers passengers in the Northwest fresh options for seasonal getaways, from snowy peaks to historic Italian cities.
New Weekly Winter Services Take Off
The inaugural flights to both the Scandinavian Mountains and Verona in Italy commenced on Saturday, 20 December. These services will operate on a weekly basis throughout the winter season, providing regular connections. Notably, easyJet becomes the only scheduled airline flying directly between the UK and the Scandinavian Mountains airport, marking a major coup for the carrier.
Destination Details: From Slopes to Shakespeare
The Scandinavian Mountains destination, situated on the border with Norway, is a premier hub for winter sports enthusiasts. The region provides access to seven nearby resorts featuring more than 260 ski slopes, catering to everyone from beginners to experts.
Conversely, the new route to Verona transports travellers to the romantic heart of northern Italy. Famous as the setting for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the city offers cultural treasures like the ancient Arena, Juliet's House, and authentic dining in its bustling piazzas.
Strengthening the Northern Network
This announcement follows closely on the heels of another route expansion from the North of England. easyJet had previously confirmed a new Liverpool to Naples service, set to begin on 3 August next year, operating on Mondays and Fridays.
To support growth from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, the airline will base an additional aircraft there, bringing its total fleet at the airport to nine. Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, emphasised the carrier's ongoing commitment. "In our 30th year, we’re still as committed as ever to making travel easy and affordable for our customers in the UK," he stated.
Regarding the Manchester launches, Doyle added: "We are really pleased to be celebrating our inaugural flights... customers from across the northwest can now enjoy even more choice this winter."
Since beginning operations from Manchester in March 2008, easyJet's presence has grown substantially. The airline now operates up to 915 flights weekly from the airport, serving 79 routes across 25 countries in Europe and North Africa.
Seats on the new routes, along with the broader network, are available to book now, with fares starting from £22.99 via easyJet's website and mobile app.
