DoorDash has unveiled its inaugural 'Donut Day Dozens' list, ranking 100 of the highest-rated small and mid-sized donut shops available through its app. The announcement comes ahead of National Donut Day, observed annually on the first Friday of June, which this year falls on June 5.
Selection Criteria and Regional Breakdown
The list was compiled based on data collected between April 2025 and April 2026. To qualify, shops had to be independent or regional with fewer than 10 locations, maintain at least 1,000 lifetime reviews, and achieve high ratings on the DoorDash platform. The ranking spans 86 cities across 25 states.
California dominated the ranking with 39 shops, nearly double the number of Texas, which placed second with 20 shops. Washington state came in third with just four shops. The list highlights the diversity of donut offerings across the country, from classic glazed to innovative gourmet creations.
Promotional Partnership
To celebrate National Donut Day, DoorDash has partnered with Krispy Kreme to offer customers up to $7 off qualifying orders placed through the app. The promotion runs from June 4 to June 18, giving donut enthusiasts ample time to indulge.
History of National Donut Day
National Donut Day originated in 1938 as a fundraising initiative by The Salvation Army in Chicago. The event honors the 'Donut Lassies,' volunteers who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. Since then, it has become a beloved annual celebration of the sweet treat.
