Disney has officially revealed the name and design of its newest cruise ship, the Disney Believe, which is scheduled to make its highly anticipated debut in 2027. The announcement was made by newly-appointed chief executive Josh D'Amaro during the 2026 Walt Disney Company Annual Shareholders Meeting, marking a significant milestone for the entertainment giant's maritime ventures.
Introducing the Disney Believe
The Disney Believe will join the Disney Cruise Line fleet as the fourth vessel in its innovative Wish class series. Like its sister ships, it will be built around a central thematic concept, continuing a design tradition that has captivated passengers worldwide. Previous ships in this class include the Disney Wish, themed on enchantment; the Disney Treasure, inspired by adventure; and the Disney Destiny, which focuses on heroes and villains.
Thematic Focus and Guest Experiences
Disney Believe will centre on the compelling idea of 'promise and possibilities', featuring stories of beloved characters who believe in themselves. Guests can look forward to immersive experiences inspired by iconic films such as Frozen, Encanto, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana, and The Little Mermaid. In a teaser on its website, Disney Cruise Line hinted at the magic awaiting passengers, stating: 'Meet the Disney Believe! Get ready to venture beyond the horizon and experience the magic of Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars in new and exciting ways.'
Disney Signature Experiences president, Joe Schott, described the ship as a 'brand ambassador' as the cruise line 'continues to visit more people in more places around the world'. This underscores Disney's strategic push to enhance its global footprint through maritime tourism.
Expanding the Disney Cruise Fleet
The unveiling of Disney Believe comes as the company aggressively expands its cruise division, as reported by industry source Blooloop. Disney plans to grow its fleet to an impressive 13 ships by 2031. This expansion includes the recently launched Disney Adventure, which began sailing from Singapore earlier this month, along with additional new vessels planned for later in the decade.
European Debut for Disney Wish
In related news, British Mickey Mouse fans have reason to celebrate, as the popular Disney Wish cruise ship is set to make its debut journey from the United Kingdom in 2027. The vessel will set sail from Southampton to various European destinations for the very first time, offering a range of voyages including three, four, five, and seven-night trips. Departures will also be available from Italy and Spain.
During its European sailings, the Disney Wish will stop at diverse destinations across the continent, such as HellesyIt in Norway, Zadar in Croatia, and Trieste in Italy. As the entertainment giant's fifth cruise ship, it can host up to 4,000 passengers, providing a luxurious and magical experience.
Onboard Features and Entertainment
The ship's interior is designed to capture Disney magic, boasting a glittering Grand Hall—a replica of the ballroom where Cinderella meets Prince Charming. Onboard amenities include:
- Nine pools for relaxation and fun
- The world's first Frozen-themed theatrical dining experience
- West End-style performances for entertainment
- Thrilling waterslides for action-packed adventures
This expansion and innovation highlight Disney's commitment to blending storytelling with cutting-edge cruise experiences, ensuring that guests of all ages can embark on unforgettable journeys across the seas.
