Center Parcs Scottish Borders: A7 junction complete ahead of 2029 opening
Center Parcs Scottish Borders: A7 junction complete

Center Parcs has completed a new junction connecting the A7 to the entrance road of its upcoming Scottish Borders holiday village, marking a key milestone in the development of the site near Hawick. The company announced the junction's completion last Monday, allowing the project to move into its next construction phase.

Progress on the A7 junction

Chief executive Colin McKinlay described the completion as a "positive step forward," noting it is "one of the most visible signs of progress with Center Parcs Scottish Borders so far, and will play an essential role in providing safe and efficient access as construction moves ahead."

McKinlay thanked local people, businesses, and travellers between Hawick and Selkirk for their patience during the works, acknowledging that "roadworks can affect daily journeys." He also expressed gratitude to RJ McLeod and everyone involved in delivering the work, confirming the junction was completed on schedule.

Plans for the holiday village

The initial announcement of Center Parcs Scottish Borders was made in March 2025, alongside the release of the zoning plan. The village will be approximately a 90-minute drive from Newcastle, offering an alternative to the current closest location in Cumbria.

The site is described as a "picturesque location," with "rolling hills and open countryside providing stunning scenery at every turn." Center Parcs is planting its own woodland to complement the natural surroundings.

Facilities and accessibility

The village will feature around 700 self-catering lodges for families, a subtropical water park, indoor and outdoor water sports, a forest spa, and family-friendly restaurants. Six designated accommodation zones are planned, alongside commitments to maintain existing areas of natural beauty.

Accessibility measures include wheelchair and pushchair-friendly footpaths, adapted accommodation, and accessible activities. The opening is currently slated for 2029, with construction continuing to progress.
