Tenerife has emerged as a top winter escape for Britons, with one expat sharing a first-hand account of the island's current atmosphere. The car rental owner, who has lived on the Canary Island for a decade, posted a video on TikTok to answer frequent queries about crowd levels in December.
Filming along the promenade at Playa de Las Vistas, between Las Americas and Los Cristianos, he showed sunbathers in shorts and sunglasses under a nearly cloudless sky. He described the island as "definitely busier than last year and very, very vibrant," noting the difficulty of hailing a taxi on the Golden Mile.
For dining out, he warned that bars and restaurants are lively, especially during peak hours from 7pm to 10pm. "If you want to go to a particular restaurant, make a reservation to be on the safe side," he advised, noting that historically quieter early December has now become busy.
Evening temperatures hover around 25 degrees Celsius, as confirmed by a recent visitor in the comments. The expat's video captured people leaving the beach at 6pm, with a few still enjoying the last rays on sunbeds, highlighting the island's appeal as a winter sun destination.
