A British woman has died in Turkey after being struck twice by a car driven by an alleged drunk driver, according to reports.
Lisa Di Palma, 61, from east London, was on holiday with her husband celebrating their wedding anniversary in Fethiye when she was hit on a pedestrian crossing on August 6. Her husband Keith said the driver struck her a second time while attempting to flee the scene.
Video footage shows the silver car running over Ms Di Palma twice before bystanders pushed the vehicle off her. The driver was apprehended by police and sent to Eşen Prison following an investigation, local media reported.
Keith Di Palma described the incident as "horrific" and said his wife had no memory of the collision, calling it a "blessing". The couple had been married for 36 years and ran Tigers Junior Football Club in east London for over two decades.
The Foreign Office confirmed it is supporting the family and is in contact with local authorities. Turkey remains a popular holiday destination for Britons, with 4.4 million visitors in 2024.
