Brit Tourist Among Three Mown Down by Car in Ibiza Crash

A British tourist is among three young women struck by a jeep in the popular Ibiza resort of Playa des Pouet, leaving one dead and two seriously injured. The incident occurred on Calle Moli, outside the On the Bay restaurant, when a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon mounted the pavement, hitting the women and knocking down a lamppost before coming to a stop near a pedestrian crossing.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested at the scene. Local police confirmed the driver is Irish and faces charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs, manslaughter, and causing serious injury. Initial investigations revealed evidence of nitrous oxide consumption moments before the crash.

Emergency services, including three ambulances, treated the women at the scene before transporting them to a medical centre. Two of the victims are in serious condition, while a third sustained foot injuries. The nationalities of the other two victims have not been confirmed, but one is believed to be British.

The crash has raised concerns as the area was crowded with beachgoers and diners at the time. San Jose Town Hall expressed gratitude for citizen cooperation, which helped locate witnesses and images aiding the investigation. The vehicle's control unit will be analysed to provide further data on the driving conditions.

This incident follows another recent crash involving British tourists in Ibiza, where two women from Bradford were seriously injured after being hit by a taxi in August. The driver in that case, a 24-year-old Spaniard, was arrested.
