Benidorm Brits Urgent Plea To Stop Holiday Shame

A British expat living in Benidorm has warned holidaymakers to avoid three areas after dark, citing pickpocketing and other risks. The warning comes as the Spanish resort remains a top destination for UK tourists.

The expat, who shared his advice on social media, listed the 'Yellow Brick Road' as the third area to avoid at night. This public pathway behind several hotels is generally safe during the day but has been linked to small thefts after dark.

Second on his list is Pueblo Alley, which he said attracts pickpockets and 'ladies of the night' late at night. He advised using alternative routes.

Topping the list is 'Mugger's Alley', notorious among locals and tourists for pickpocketing and prostitution. The expat also warned of taxi scams, urging visitors to cross the road to avoid potential fraud.

One commenter disagreed, saying they had stayed in the Rio Park area 20 times without issues. The UK Government has previously warned about a police officer scam in Spain, where thieves pose as officers to ask for wallets.

The Visit Benidorm Tourist Board has been contacted for comment.
