Mikel Arteta has hinted at significant activity at Arsenal this summer, stating that “a lot is happening” as the club continues to refine its transfer window plans.
Interest in Vinicius Jr
The reigning Premier League champions have been linked with Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr, whose future at the Santiago Bernabeu remains uncertain without a new contract. Reports suggest Arsenal have expressed interest in the 26-year-old Brazil international.
While some updates indicated a deal would be difficult, football.london reported that a transfer to Arsenal is still very much possible.
Arteta's transfer update
In an interview with the club’s official media, Arteta said: “A lot is happening. We all know about the context of this transfer window. From ownership to the board, the sporting director and myself, we know that we want to take this club to a different level. That is going to require a better squad, better individuals. We have identified where we have opportunities to grow and to improve and to evolve our game and what is going to be needed to achieve that. Hopefully very soon we can start to put things in a very concrete way.”
Completed signings and other targets
Arsenal have already made two summer signings: goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer from Leeds United, and forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for £34 million. One departure has also been confirmed.
The club has been seeking attacking reinforcements and was reportedly interested in Morgan Rogers before he joined Chelsea from Aston Villa for £117 million. Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola and Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi have also been mentioned as possible targets.
