An albino buffalo, nicknamed 'Donald Trump' due to its distinctive golden mane and large build, has become a major attraction at Bangladesh's national zoo since its recent arrival. The rare animal first gained public attention when a farmer observed that its blond hair resembled Donald Trump's signature hairstyle. This observation led to a viral video and drew large crowds to its previous location outside Dhaka.
Rescue from Sacrifice
Originally slated for sacrifice during the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha, the government intervened, citing security concerns. Authorities ordered the buffalo's transfer to the capital's zoo and refunded the buyer, sparing the animal from slaughter.
Celebrity Status at the Zoo
Despite sweltering heat, visitors are flocking to the zoo to see the celebrity buffalo. The animal receives special treatment, including being brushed and hosed down by a zoo worker. The initial sign identifying the exhibit as 'Donald Trump' was removed, and the zoo curator was reportedly fired, as some found the naming disrespectful to one of the world's most influential leaders.
The buffalo now enjoys a life of comfort and attention, far from its original fate. Its story has captured the imagination of the public, highlighting the intersection of nature, politics, and social media in contemporary Bangladesh.
