Eleven UK travel companies have collapsed or ceased trading in recent months, leaving holidaymakers facing cancelled trips and refund claims. The closures have affected businesses across the country, from travel agencies and cruise specialists to coach tour operators, ski holiday firms, and airlines.
Ski Yodl Ltd enters voluntary liquidation
Among the latest casualties is Ski Yodl Ltd, a Norwich-based ski holiday specialist which has entered voluntary liquidation after almost eight years in business. A voluntary winding-up order was approved on July 22, with Richard Cacho of RCM Advisory Limited appointed liquidator, according to The Gazette. The collapse means all package holidays booked through Ski Yodl have been cancelled.
Other companies cease trading
Earlier this year, Regen Central Ltd, a London-based travel company selling flight-and-hotel packages to destinations across Europe and Southeast Asia, ceased trading after losing its Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) on January 13. All bookings were cancelled after the company entered liquidation.
Meanwhile, Simply Florida Travel Ltd, a Glasgow travel agency specialising in holidays to destinations including Disneyland, Miami and New York, was dissolved after requesting to be struck off the Companies House register. The closure resulted in the cancellation of all remaining package holidays.
Coach operator and other firms shut down
Coach holiday operator Gold Crest Holidays also entered liquidation earlier this year, resulting in the cancellation of all UK and overseas coach tours. Industry reports said staff were made redundant after the business ceased trading.
Several other firms, including Asiara UK Ltd, Jetline Travel Ltd, Great Little Escapes LLP and New Era Travel, have also shut down or been dissolved since 2025, with the Civil Aviation Authority listing them among companies that have either lost ATOL protection or ceased trading.
Oxfordshire businesses disappear
Three Oxfordshire-based travel businesses have also disappeared over the past year. Oxfordshire Travel Limited entered creditors' voluntary liquidation after directors concluded it could no longer meet its debts, while Set Sail Cruises Ltd, based in Bicester, was dissolved less than two years after it was established, with all planned cruises cancelled. The Padel Travel Club Limited, which organised padel-themed holidays from Henley-on-Thames, has also been dissolved after filing accounts showing more than £40,000 in short-term debts.
Airline halts operations
The wave of closures also included Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY Airlines, which halted all flights in September 2025. The UK Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the airline had ceased operations, with every PLAY-operated flight cancelled. Reports said around 400 employees lost their jobs following the shutdown.
It comes as thousands of travellers have also faced disruption in recent weeks due to flight cancellations linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
