Van Dijk Transfer Claim as Liverpool Miss Out on Barcola

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to sell captain Virgil van Dijk during the summer transfer window, while a key attacking target appears set to join Arsenal instead.

Van Dijk Transfer Speculation

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are open to offers for the 35-year-old defender, whose contract expires in 2027. The club no longer views Van Dijk as 'untouchable', though incoming boss Andoni Iraola is not actively seeking his departure. Turkish club Galatasaray and former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim's new side Milan have been linked.

Van Dijk joined Liverpool from Southampton for £75m in January 2018, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League in 2019, and other domestic honours. He also played in two further European Cup finals, both lost to Real Madrid.

Barcola Chooses Arsenal

Liverpool have suffered another blow as Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola reportedly prefers a move to Arsenal. The Daily Mail's Lewis Steele told the Anfield Index podcast: 'I do think he probably will end up leaving PSG. He's got a decision to make and he might prefer Arsenal. He's probably looking at Arteta, and he might want to live in the capital city of London.'

Steele added that Liverpool have laid groundwork for Barcola, but may still miss out. PSG are asking around £116m, a fee that could rise if France win the World Cup. 'It's going to be very, very hard for Liverpool to get Barcola,' Steele said.

Missed Targets

Liverpool's transfer activity has stalled after signing Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34.5m and Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes for £60m. They also missed out on Yan Diomande, who chose Paris Saint-Germain.
