All children injured in a car crash at a Wimbledon school that killed two pupils have been discharged from hospital, police have confirmed. The incident occurred on July 6 when a Land Rover Defender crashed through a fence into The Study Prep school on Camp Road, southwest London.
Selena Lau and Nuria Sajjad, both eight, died in the crash. A woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was taken to hospital but sustained no life-threatening injuries. She was initially bailed and has now been re-bailed to return at the end of September, the Metropolitan Police said.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing their inquiries. The families of the victims have requested privacy during this difficult time, the Met added.
The school was holding an end-of-term picnic when the car struck. In a statement, the school described the event as a 'happy occasion' that 'suddenly turned to tragedy'. The pain felt by the girls' families was described as 'unimaginable'.
Inquests into the deaths were opened and adjourned on July 12 at Inner West London Coroner's Court.
