Samsung has released an urgent security update for Galaxy phones, addressing over 11 vulnerabilities, one of which is rated 'critical' and is already being exploited by hackers. The flaw, described as an 'out-of-bounds write' in the libimagecodec.quram.so library, could allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code, potentially leading to malware installation or data theft.
Jamie Akhtar, CEO and co-founder of CyberSmart, warned: 'Given Samsung's large global user base and the prevalence of Android in general, leaving such flaws unaddressed introduces real risk. Not just of data theft, but of entire devices being compromised.' He urged users to check for updates immediately.
The update is available for a wide range of Galaxy devices, including the Z Fold and Z Flip series from the Fold4 to the Fold7 and Flip7, as well as the S21 FE 5G, S22, S23, S24, and S25 models. Users can install the patch by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
