A manhunt is under way after a man was shot dead in front of children attending a peace memorial in west London. Levi Davidson, 40, was gunned down in front of a crowd of about 50 people in Braybrook Street, Acton, at 7.45pm on October 2.
Multiple gunshots were heard from the memorial, and police and paramedics rushed to the estate. Mr Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Post-mortem and investigation
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to establish the cause of death, but Mr Davidson is believed to have suffered a single gunshot wound. Police have urged people to remember whether they noticed anyone “carrying or concealing weapons, people on bicycles acting suspiciously, or vehicles being driven at speed”.
Det Ch Insp Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of a man whose life was taken in a senseless act of violence.
Appeal for witnesses
“We understand a large number of people had gathered for a memorial service and what should have been a time to come together in remembrance has instead left a family devastated.
“We believe between 40 and 50 people, including children, were present when this incident occurred. Someone knows what happened and we need them to come forward.”
Police want anyone who was around Erconwald Street, Braybrook Street, the surrounding roads, or the Wormwood Scrubs playground between 6pm and 8pm on the day of the shooting to “think carefully” about what they saw. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is still in its early stages.
