Revolut customers have been left unable to access their accounts following a major outage affecting the banking app. The problems have also affected card payments, with some users reportedly unable to pay for items in the shops.
Users attempting to log in were met with a "something went wrong" error message, alongside a prompt telling them to try again later. The disruption has left some people unable to check their accounts or access their money, with the bank yet to provide further details about the cause of the outage.
Revolut Confirms Service Disruption
Although Revolut has confirmed it is aware of the issues and is working to get its service back to normal, it did not share a time frame for when users might be able to access their account again.
In a statement posted on X, the company said: "We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple features, which may result in some services being inaccessible. Our engineering team is actively working to restore full service as quickly as possible."
"We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."
Global Impact and User Reactions
It seems like the issue is worldwide, with users in Australia, the UK, Japan and America reporting issues with payments on social media.
Replying to Revolut's statement on X, one user penned: "I’m at a petrol station in Australia . Can’t pay for my fuel that I just put in my car .. so I’m just standing in the petrol station highly embarrassed and can’t get home to my kids . Won’t trust Revolut again."
While another fumed: "Rubbish service. You don’t have a contact phone number so if the app goes down we are completely stuck. Your service page says everything is great. I’ll be closing my account after this experience."
Revolut has not yet provided further details about the cause of the outage or when full service will be restored.
