Rangers Join Basel for French Defender Sankhoun Diawara

Rangers have been linked with a move for talented French defender Sankhoun Diawara as a busy summer at Ibrox threatens to ramp up even more. Dan Neil yesterday became their fifth signing of the summer after deals for Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey and Ivor Pandur. With that UK-based quintet tied up, it now appears Derek McInnes is looking further afield for his next signing.

Rangers Table £4m Bid for Partizan Belgrade Captain

We understand Rangers have made an offer just short of £4m for Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojevic – which won't impact their interest in Lewis Ferguson despite the positional overlap. And now Foot Mercato in France say they have joined Basel in the race for 20-year-old centre-back Diawara.

Diawara's 'Revelational' Season at Troyes

Diawara is described as having had a 'revelational' season for Troyes last season and, entering the final year on his contract, it's claimed Rangers are interested in bringing him to Scotland. Left-sided Diawara is a France U19 international and burst into the Troyes team in the second half of last season, making 14 appearances in Ligue 2.

McInnes Promises More Signings

It comes after boss McInnes promised earlier today that there would be more signings to come after a deal for Neil was rubber-stamped. He said: "It's been good. A lot of the conversations were ongoing before I came in, but getting things over the line isn't always easy. People think it is easy to get signings done but normally when good players are involved, more than one team is involved too. The board and the recruitment team should be pleased with their work so far. Clearly, there is still more work to do but we are pleased so far. Getting the boys in early is vitally important too. Some signings will take a bit longer, which is just the way, but getting the early signings is important."
