Manchester United have completed the signing of 35-year-old goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer, with the stopper set to be back-up for Senne Lammens next season. Darlow has spent the last three seasons at Leeds United and made 22 starts in the Premier League last term, but his contract at Elland Road expired at the end of the season and United have swooped.
Goalkeeping Departures and Arrivals
United were in the market for a new backup goalkeeper, with Andre Onana having already re-joined Trabzonspor on loan. Altay Bayindir is also set to return to Turkey on a permanent deal, while 22-year-old Radek Vitek is keen to play regular football again. Vitek had a successful loan spell at Bristol City last season and he could depart on loan again, although United will consider cashing in on the Czech youngster if they receive an acceptable offer.

United said in a statement confirming the signing of Darlow: "Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Karl Darlow has joined the club, subject to registration. The Wales international has signed a contract until June 2028, with the option to extend for a further year."
Darlow's Experience and Stats
The 35-year-old has played 279 games, 74 of which have been in the Premier League. Last season Darlow established himself as Leeds United’s number one goalkeeper and kept five clean sheets. The Wales international will strengthen United's homegrown quota and he has plenty of Premier League experience, having also spent nine years at Newcastle United.
