Liverpool are set to bid for Bradley Barcola, with PSG potentially more open to negotiating after reaching a breakthrough for Maghnes Akliouche. The Reds are now in pole position for the 23-year-old France star as they finally make moves to replace Mohamed Salah.
PSG breakthrough could benefit Liverpool
Liverpool showed interest in Maghnes Akliouche earlier in the summer, but he now looks set to join PSG following a breakthrough in negotiations. Fabrizio Romano shared an update on July 30, announcing an "agreement [is] now at final stages between clubs." L'Equipe also reported that a fee has been agreed. PSG's valuation of Barcola is £140m, but Richard Hughes is reportedly looking to do a deal around £100m, given Barcola is into the final two years of his contract after a somewhat disappointing personal season.
Inter interest in Jones "could be rekindled"
La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on July 29 that negotiations for Curtis Jones "could be rekindled in the coming days." Despite previous attempts falling short of Liverpool's valuation, Inter's view on Jones hasn't changed, nor has the desire of the player for a new chapter. However, Inter's budget is limited—€40m for the entire summer, already partly committed to John Stones. They have sold Dumfries, Esposito, and Carboni for a combined €26.5m, and signed Stankovic, Akanji, and Provedel for €41m, leaving them €14.5m net down. Jones would cost most of that alone.
Liverpool make "direct contact" for Gilberto Mora
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool—along with many other top European clubs—are very interested in Mexican prodigy Gilberto Mora. The Reds have made direct contact with his representatives. Mora, who turned 17, can't transfer abroad until he's 18—76 days away—so a January move is possible. Tijuana have inserted a structured release clause into his contract.
