Liverpool transfer news: Curtis Jones responds to exit rumours, Bruno Guimaraes agrees Arsenal terms
Liverpool transfer latest: Jones response, Guimaraes deal

Curtis Jones has personally responded to rumours concerning his Liverpool future, hinting he is not leaving the club this summer. The 25-year-old midfielder took to social media to reply to a post claiming he was set to sign for Nottingham Forest, responding with a sceptical raised-eyebrow emoji. This indicates Jones is unaware of any such move and is not pleased with the speculation linking him with a departure from Anfield.

Liverpool's pre-season has officially commenced, but the squad is not yet complete as some players are still on post-World Cup holidays. The Reds have plenty of work to do to improve on last season's performance. Jones, who now has less than 12 months left on his deal, could potentially be offloaded, but his public response suggests a move to Forest is not imminent.

Arsenal reach Bruno Guimaraes agreement

Liverpool may need to act swiftly if they harbour hopes of signing Bruno Guimaraes this summer. Reports from French daily L'Equipe state that Arsenal have agreed terms with the Newcastle captain on a five-year contract running until 2031. However, the considerable obstacle of persuading Newcastle to sanction a sale remains. The Magpies have no desire to lose their captain, especially after midfield partner Sandro Tonali's departure to Tottenham.

It is alleged a deal could be struck in the region of £76 million. Lyon, who sold Guimaraes to Newcastle in January 2022, hold a 20% sell-on clause, which would amount to a windfall of approximately £15 million should the transfer go through. Arsenal reportedly had a £55 million bid rejected in June, but the rebuff did not put off the north Londoners entirely.

Liverpool have been linked with several midfield reinforcements this summer, but an existing midfielder may need to be offloaded if the Reds wish to make a late move for Guimaraes.
