Post Office Plus: New Services Roll Out Across UK High Streets

The Post Office is rolling out a major upgrade across UK branches, branded as an 'exciting new chapter' aimed at revitalising the declining high street. The new initiative, called Post Office Plus, will bring face-to-face banking services and other essential support to local communities, responding to growing demand for in-person assistance.

Initial Partners and Services

Post Office Plus partners with several companies on different days of the week to provide a variety of services. The initial partners include Utility Warehouse, Octopus Legacy, and the Good Things Foundation. Utility Warehouse will help customers with energy, mobile, and broadband deals all in one place. Octopus Legacy will assist with wills, lasting power of attorney, trusts, and estate planning. The Good Things Foundation will work with people to build confidence online, covering basic digital skills, internet safety, and everyday online tasks.

Response to High Street Decline

The services come in response to demand for more in-person support as many post offices have closed over the past year. In 2025, 432 branches shut in total, leaving many towns and villages without a hub to deliver and receive post. Neil Brocklehurst, chief executive officer of the Post Office, said: “Post Office Plus is designed to complement our existing branch network and gives partners space to offer valuable in-person support to customers at a location they trust.”

Government Support

Post Office minister Blair McDougall MP added: “This is an exciting new chapter for the Post Office and for our high streets, bringing trusted, face-to-face services under one roof so people can easily access the support they need for the moments that matter most.” The first stores are set to open this week in Derby and Barnsley, with more concept stores expected to launch later this year.
