Liverpool are reportedly looking to agree a £100million fee for Bradley Barcola as the Reds prepare to open talks with Paris Saint-Germain. The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield throughout the summer transfer window, and interest ramped up on Wednesday.
As the ECHO has reported, Liverpool are set to begin negotiations with PSG as they look to bring the 23-year-old to Anfield. Barcola has been identified as a key target to strengthen the squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Preliminary talks and price expectations
Liverpool have already held preliminary talks with Barcola's representatives and have been given encouragement that the former Lyon star is keen to complete a move to Anfield. The Times has reported that the Reds are looking to strike a deal worth around £100million for Barcola and are 'unlikely' to spend more than the £125million it cost to bring Alexander Isak to the club 12 months ago from Newcastle United.
It has been suggested that PSG value Barcola at around £140million this summer, but Liverpool will look to strike a deal with a lower fee. The winger still has two years remaining on his contract at PSG and does not seem willing to sign an extension, despite the reigning Champions League winners being keen to agree fresh terms.
World Cup performance and Liverpool's summer activity
Barcola helped France reach the semi-final of the World Cup, scoring three goals in eight appearances in the tournament for Les Bleus. A departure from the French capital appears to be gathering momentum after the latest updates, but it remains to be seen if Liverpool can agree a deal with PSG for the versatile forward.
Liverpool have had a relatively quiet summer transfer window so far, with just two new additions to the squad that Andoni Iraola has inherited from former head coach Arne Slot. Jeremy Jacquet arrived on a permanent deal from Rennes after a £60million deal was agreed back in February, while Liverpool have also signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna after agreeing to pay the £34.5million release clause in his contract with the La Liga club.
