Liverpool's summer transfer window is accelerating under new manager Andoni Iraola, with the club close to finalising the departure of midfielder Luca Stephenson and officially announcing the arrival of defender Jeremy Jacquet. The Reds have already secured their first signing of the Iraola era in Victor Munoz, while several high-profile players, including Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate, have departed in deals agreed before the Spaniard took over from Arne Slot.
Luca Stephenson Set for Bolton Move
Luca Stephenson is on the verge of leaving Liverpool, with a £700,000 transfer to Championship side Bolton Wanderers nearly complete. The 22-year-old midfielder, who joined Liverpool's academy from Sunderland in 2018, has yet to make a senior appearance for the Reds despite featuring in pre-season squads for the last two years. He spent the past two seasons on loan at Dundee United, where his second campaign was cut short by injury, but he still won both the fans' and club's Young Player of the Season awards. Stephenson is in the final year of his Anfield contract.
Jeremy Jacquet Officially Joins Liverpool
Jeremy Jacquet's Liverpool career officially began on Wednesday after his £60 million transfer from Rennes was confirmed. The 20-year-old defender agreed to join in January but returned to Rennes on loan for the remainder of the season. He sustained a shoulder injury during his loan spell but has been cleared to start pre-season training this month. Upon his arrival, Jacquet said: "I saw all the cups and trophies, just how many there are, and I thought 'wow, I really want to be part of the history of this club'. I was just thinking that I want to bring back many more of them." He added: "It's a legendary club and the football philosophy appealed to me directly, and with my family I believe we made the right choice and we feel really happy here. They are really, really proud of me. I think they've got a few stars in their eyes, a bit like I have, and that they are all excited and can't wait to have it all started and that I begin to get some training sessions and a run of games under my belt."
