Liverpool Hijack £35m Victor Munoz Transfer from Newcastle as World Cup Ace Set to Sign
Liverpool Beat Newcastle to Victor Munoz Signing

Liverpool have hijacked Newcastle United's move for Spain star Victor Munoz, with the winger set to sign for the Reds in a £34.6million deal from Osasuna. The Liverpool Echo understands the Premier League giants are close to finalising Munoz's arrival after triggering his release clause.

Munoz Set for Six-Year Deal

The Spain international has a €40million (£34.6million) clause in his Osasuna contract. Munoz is now expected to sign a six-year contract and complete his move to Merseyside, becoming the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era at Anfield. This is a bitter blow for Newcastle, who have missed out on another transfer target to Liverpool.

World Cup Star's Move

The 22-year-old is currently with the Spain squad at the World Cup in North America. He remained on the bench in their goalless draw with Cape Verde in their opening match. Munoz is expected to undergo his Liverpool medical while in the USA.

Munoz, an ex-Barcelona academy graduate, primarily plays as a left winger but can also feature on the right. He joined Osasuna last summer from Real Madrid and has earned two caps for Spain. He will be looking to add to that tally in the World Cup, with Spain facing Saudi Arabia and Uruguay next.

Iraola was appointed Liverpool head coach earlier this month after Arne Slot's departure. He will oversee pre-season training next month, including a trip to the United States.
