Jaecoo has expanded its UK lineup with the arrival of the new Jaecoo 8 SHS-P, a flagship plug-in hybrid SUV that rivals the Range Rover at less than half the price. Priced from £45,500 for the seven-seat Luxury model and £47,500 for the six-seat Executive version, the Jaecoo 8 is now available to order, with first deliveries expected from May 2026.
The Jaecoo 8 is the brand's first model to offer both six- and seven-seat configurations. The Luxury variant focuses on family practicality with seven seats and multiple ISOFIX points, while the Executive model features heated, ventilated, and massaging captain's chairs in the second row, plus Nappa leather trim and a zero-gravity front passenger seat.
Under the bonnet, the Jaecoo 8 uses the Chery Group's Super Hybrid System, pairing a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a three-speed DHT transmission and all-wheel drive. Combined output stands at 422bhp and 580Nm, enabling a 0-62mph time of 5.8 seconds. The plug-in hybrid system allows up to 83 miles of electric-only driving, with a total range exceeding 700 miles. Fast charging at up to 40kW DC replenishes the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in around 20 minutes.
Off-road capability is enhanced with lockable differentials, a first for Jaecoo, plus an adaptive all-terrain response system and continuous damping control suspension. The SUV can wade through water up to 600mm deep. Inside, the cabin features dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 14-speaker Sony sound system with headrest speakers, and cooled wireless charging pads.
Safety equipment includes 10 airbags and up to 19 driver assistance systems, such as autonomous emergency braking and blind spot detection. The body structure uses up to 85 per cent high-strength steel. Victor Zhang, UK country director for Jaecoo, said: 'This is the first time we're offering both a six- and a seven-seat configuration within a single model, ensuring the Jaecoo 8 is suited to a wide range of use cases.'
The Jaecoo 8 joins the existing Jaecoo 7 and Jaecoo 5 in the UK. The brand sold 28,232 cars last year and nearly 7,000 in the first two months of 2026. All models come with a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty, plus an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty on the battery.
