Insomnia Cookies, the US-based late-night cookie chain, will open its first Newcastle branch on July 18, 2026, at 1pm, with operating hours extending into the early morning. The takeaway will occupy the former Caffe Nero unit near The Gate, as reported by ChronicleLive in February.
What to expect from Insomnia Cookies
The brand, which describes itself as made by and for young people 'who dream big and don’t mind breaking the rules,' offers a menu including Classic Choc Chunk cookies, cookie sandwiches (Wiches), Cookie Shakes, and build-your-own boxes. Unlike traditional bakeries, Insomnia Cookies stays open late, often until 3am, with delivery available to satisfy late-night cravings.
Insomnia Cookies has gained popularity on TikTok and among students in cities like Liverpool, Leeds, and Manchester. The Newcastle location will follow the same model, offering warm cookies delivered to doorsteps.
Other Newcastle openings
Nearby, Mother Hubbard's, which claims to be the 'UK's most famous' chippy, will also open its first Newcastle shop opposite NX, according to recent signs. ChronicleLive has launched a dedicated WhatsApp community for What's On news and updates, and a free newsletter for food, drink, entertainment, and events in the North East.
