GTA 6 to Feature 60fps Performance Mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X, Source Claims
GTA 6 60fps Performance Mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X

An anonymous source at Rockstar Games has reportedly revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature a 60fps performance mode on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The claim comes from Polish journalist Borys Niespielak, who shared the information on a podcast, citing a single but reliable source close to Rockstar.

Performance and Fidelity Modes Confirmed

According to Niespielak, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of GTA 6 will offer two graphical modes: a fidelity mode targeting 30fps and a performance mode targeting 60fps. This mirrors the trend seen in many modern console games, where players can choose between higher resolution and visual quality or smoother frame rates.

However, the Xbox Series S appears to be more limited. The source claims Rockstar is targeting a 1080p resolution at 30fps on the lower-powered console, with no 60fps option available. This could disappoint Series S owners hoping for a smoother experience.

Uncertainty Around PC Port

The news comes amid ongoing speculation about a PC version of GTA 6. Currently, the game is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not announced a PC port, and the only way to play Red Dead Redemption 2 at 60fps remains on PC, leading some to wonder if GTA 6 will follow a similar pattern.

Niespielak has a track record of accurate leaks, including correctly predicting Ciri as the protagonist of The Witcher 4 and the existence of The Witcher 3 DLC 'Songs of the Past'. However, this is his first Rockstar-related leak, and the information should be treated with caution until officially confirmed.

Pre-Orders Live Without Gameplay Footage

GTA 6 pre-orders are already available, despite Rockstar not having released any gameplay footage. The game's trailers have showcased stunning in-engine visuals, but questions remain about performance on current-gen consoles. If the 60fps mode is confirmed, it would be a significant selling point for players who prioritize smooth gameplay.

Rockstar has not commented on the claims. The studio may opt for a locked 30fps cinematic experience, as seen with Red Dead Redemption 2 on consoles. With the launch still months away, more details are expected closer to release.
