Tributes have been paid to Nicola Wright, a 44-year-old mother of four who died when her light aircraft crashed near Dunkeswell Airfield in Devon on Friday. The crash occurred shortly after 10am on June 26, according to Devon and Cornwall Police, and was witnessed by horrified onlookers.
Victim described as 'clever and adventurous'
Friends and family described Nicola as 'clever and adventurous'. She was an experienced aerobatic pilot, skydiver, and mountain climber. Last year, she completed her first cross-country flight, according to her social media. Nicola worked as an HR director for Medisave, a company that supplies vital medical equipment across the UK.
Police and AAIB investigation underway
Devon and Cornwall Police said they are working with the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) to determine the cause of the crash. Superintendent Jo Arundale stated: 'We will be working closely with The Air Accident Investigation Branch to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash this morning. We recognise it is a very sad incident and we are appealing to the public not to speculate regarding the crash.'
Police have urged anyone with relevant footage to contact them and not to post it online. The incident remains ongoing, and updates will be issued when available.
