Grand Theft Auto fans are in for an exciting period as Rockstar Games makes several major announcements, including a free upgrade for GTA 5 on current-gen consoles and the reveal of GTA 6 pre-order details.
Free GTA 5 Upgrade for Current-Gen Consoles
Any player who owns any version of Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS4 or the digital edition on Xbox One can upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version at no extra cost. Similarly, PC players with the Legacy Edition can upgrade to the Enhanced version for free.
Technical Improvements and Exclusive Features
The upgraded versions include significant technical enhancements such as improved performance, easy story mode and GTA Online progress migration, and exclusive content like Hao's Special Works vehicles and Career Progress rewards. The PC Enhanced edition also adds ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination.
New GTA Online Heist: The Kortz Center Heist
Rockstar has announced a massive new GTA Online update launching in July, featuring the Kortz Center Heist. Players will infiltrate the Pacific Bluffs building to steal artwork and valuables. To participate, players must add an Art Studio to their Mansion property.
GTA 6 Pre-Order Date Revealed
On the same day, Rockstar confirmed that GTA 6 pre-orders will begin on June 25. A teaser trailer showcased the official box art, following the classic GTA cover style with characters, weapons, vehicles, and wildlife. Fans anticipate a new trailer on the pre-order date.
