Savvy smartphone shoppers seeking a bargain on a new Android phone may find an excellent opportunity if a Google Pixel is at the top of their wishlist. Amazon is currently running a limited-time deal on the Pixel 10a, with an offer price lower than Google's own sale.
Amazon Undercuts Google's Sale Price
On the official Google Store, the Pixel 10a is discounted from £499 to £429. That same price applies on Amazon for the Berry, Lavender, or Fog colour options. However, buyers who choose the Obsidian (black) 128GB model can save an additional £20, bringing the price down to £409.
This £409 price represents a £91 saving off the original £499 launch price. The Pixel 10a, released in March, is Google's newest Pixel phone. Amazon notes the deal is “selling fast” and is set to end on June 22, giving shoppers limited time to take advantage of this offer.
Reviewer's Perspective on Value
Henry Burrell, Deputy Technology Editor, reviewed the Pixel 10a at launch and criticized its £499 price tag. The previous year's Pixel 9a also launched at £499 but now sells for around £400 on sale. Because the Pixel 10a offered minimal upgrades over its predecessor, it felt overpriced at £499. However, at £409, the Pixel 10a becomes a compelling option, offering the latest Pixel with the longest software update schedule. All Pixel devices receive seven years of updates, meaning the 10a will remain supported until March 2033.
Design and Camera Highlights
The Pixel 10a shares the same Tensor G4 chipset as the Pixel 9a, but that doesn't make it a poor choice. Its standout design feature is the absence of a camera bump—the dual lenses sit flush with the back glass, making the phone easy to slip in and out of pockets and stable when placed on a desk.
The cameras produce excellent still images, especially from the main lens, considering the price. While not quite matching the Pixel 10 Pro XL (currently £849 at Argos), the results are very close, and the Pro model starts at a steep £1,199. The Pixel 10a offers superb value in this regard, running the same Android 16 software with most of the AI features found in top-end Pixels.
Display, Battery, and Alternative
The phone features a 6.3-inch OLED display that is bright enough for outdoor use. Battery life is excellent, thanks to a large 5,100mAh battery packed into a compact device.
An alternative worth considering is the Nothing Phone 4a at £379, which offers double the storage (256GB), a telephoto lens, faster charging, and a unique transparent design. For more details, check the Nothing Phone 4a review.
This Amazon deal on the Pixel 10a is a rare opportunity to get Google's latest phone at a significant discount, but it won't last beyond June 22.
