Football Manager 27 will be free to play for a limited time at launch, as Sega seeks to avoid a repeat of the troubled release of last year's entry. The game, developed by Sports Interactive, will be available free across PC and Mac from October 29 at 6pm GMT to November 3 at 6pm GMT, ahead of its full launch on November 10.
Free Launch Preview and Discount
This Football Manager 27 Launch Preview will be accessible on Steam, Epic, the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, and PC Game Pass, with no sign-ups required. Players who purchase the game during this free window will receive a 10% discount on the £49.99 price, along with continued early access to the Launch Preview until the full launch on November 10, 2026. Progress from the free build will carry over to the full game.
Recovering from Last Year's Launch
Football Manager 26 was one of the worst received entries in the series after its botched launch, which was the first game built in the Unity engine. Making this year's edition free for everyone is a promising show of confidence, though its reception remains to be seen.
Football Manager 27 promises an improved user interface, navigation, and enhanced visuals on the pitch. Alongside PC and Mac, it will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on the same day, with a mobile version set to arrive on Netflix.
If Football Manager 27 proves as successful as previous games, last year's entry could be forgotten as a one-off problem. However, if this edition also upsets fans, Sega and Sports Interactive will face a very difficult situation.
