Disney+ has acquired the rights to broadcast Gary Neville's The Overlap podcast in a multi-million pound deal, intensifying the streaming rivalry between Neville and Gary Lineker ahead of the new football season.
The announcement was made on Thursday, August 13. Neville launched The Overlap in 2021 with former Sky Sports producer Scott Melvin.
New Shows and Exclusive Content
As part of the agreement, 40 episodes of Stick to Football will air on Disney+ this season, featuring Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Ian Wright, and Roy Keane. Additionally, Wayne Rooney and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge will co-host a new show titled Stick to United, discussing Manchester United's season over 50 episodes.
Both shows will remain available on YouTube, but 20 additional episodes of Stick to Football will be exclusive to Disney+ subscribers.
Expansion and Viewership
Since its launch five years ago, The Overlap has expanded into other sports, with Stick to Cricket launching last year. Neville's company achieved 2.2 billion views across all platforms in 2025 and generates 38 million monthly views.
Neville said: “We’re immensely proud to be partnering with Disney+. It’s one of the world’s most iconic entertainment brands, and for us this is a unique partnership that feels right for everyone involved.
"What's exciting is that we’re not changing who we are. Our community will continue to enjoy our content in exactly the way they always have through YouTube, while at the same time Disney+’s incredible global streaming audience will now be able to discover and enjoy it too…"
Rooney stated: “Having worked with Gary, Roy, Jamie, Wrighty and Jill on both Stick to Football and The Overlap’s Fan Debate show it was a natural next step to co-host a new show from The Overlap that is totally dedicated to everything Manchester United.
Goldbridge commented: "I’m massively excited to be working with Manchester United’s all-time record goalscorer Wayne Rooney on Stick to United with Wayne Rooney on The United Stand."
Rivalry with Gary Lineker
The deal marks a significant moment in the visual podcast rivalry with Gary Lineker, whose The Rest is Football aired daily episodes on Netflix during the World Cup, appearing in Netflix's daily top 10 for over 40 days. Lineker confirmed the regular podcast will be available on Netflix for the next two seasons.
