Arsenal: Arteta plots improved offer, extra incentive for £100m star

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is ramping up his pursuit of key transfer targets as the summer window enters its second week. The Gunners have yet to announce a marquee signing, but that is expected to change in the coming weeks.

Arteta's Transfer Plans

Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta finalized six transfers in July last year, and they are working behind the scenes on various deals. The Premier League champions are unlikely to sign eight players this summer, but potential deals could be confirmed after the ongoing 2026 World Cup.

Arteta reportedly has around £250m to spend as Arsenal look to defend their title and improve in the Champions League. A midfielder, winger, and potentially another striker are top priorities.

Improved Offer for Jeremy Monga

Arsenal are planning an improved offer for Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga, according to reports. The 16-year-old is also wanted by Brentford and Newcastle, but there is confidence he wants to move to the Emirates Stadium. An initial bid was turned down, but negotiations are expected to resume shortly.

Any transfer will be shelved until after July 10, when Monga turns 17 and signs his first professional contract, allowing Leicester to receive a fee. Monga made 30 appearances across all competitions this term, logging over 1,000 minutes of senior football. Following Leicester's relegation to League One, he is expected to seek a move.

Extra Incentive for Morgan Rogers

Arsenal have an added incentive to sign Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers early this summer. Arteta is a keen admirer of the 23-year-old, who could be the marquee left-wing signing Arsenal desire. The Premier League has announced fixtures for the 2026/27 season, with Arsenal traveling to Villa Park on August 29. After suffering a defeat there last season, Arteta will want Rogers available for that match, dealing a blow to Villa's chances of an upset.

Rogers is expected to cost around £100m, as he has five years left on his contract and is one of the league's most promising talents.
