AO World launches 39p a day mobile plan with 500GB data

AO World has launched its own mobile phone plan, offering customers hundreds of gigabytes of data alongside unlimited calls and texts. The SIM-only offer, powered by Vodafone, is available now and provides coverage reaching more than 99% of UK homes, according to the company.

Pricing and membership

Prices start at £12 a month for customers who are already members of AO's membership programme, which works out at around 39p a day over the course of a year. Non-members will pay £18 a month for the same plan.

The deal includes 500GB of data every month, unlimited calls and texts within the UK, and a 15GB EU roaming allowance. Both physical SIM and eSIM options are available.

Flexible contract terms

There is no long-term contract commitment, giving customers the option of avoiding lengthy deals often associated with mobile phone plans.

Wes Patterson, head of AO Mobile, said: "AO Mobile has been designed to make that choice simpler. By offering one straightforward plan, we’re taking away the guesswork and helping customers get the connectivity they need, while delivering the kind of value that’s become increasingly important for households."

Company statements

AO’s Founder and CEO, John Roberts, added: "AO Mobile has been designed for typical customer usage patterns, combining high data allowances with a straightforward pricing structure underpinned by a reliable network. We've been disrupting the status quo since 2000 to make things better, simpler, and cheaper for customers. We want to remove complexity and keep mobile simple so that it’s easy for customers to understand. Our pricing is transparent, our contracts are flexible, and our prices are fixed. No gimmicks, no price rises in the first 12 months, no surprises and a rolling 30 day contract. It is typical AO value. We don’t need to tie you in because you’ll never want to leave. It is simply amazing value, which is why AO is the most trusted electrical retailer."

However, anyone considering the £12-a-month price will need to take the cost of AO's membership into account. Membership costs £39.99 a year and also comes with benefits including free unlimited delivery and special discounts on products.

Competing offers

There are also other deals available for customers looking for large amounts of mobile data. Giffgaff, for example, has an unlimited-data SIM-only plan costing £14 a month, while iD Mobile has an unlimited-data offer costing £8 a month for the first three months before rising to £16.
