AI Home Decor Platform Matches Pinterest Finds to Your Budget
AI Platform Matches Pinterest Finds to Your Budget

Shop Home Styles, an AI-powered platform backed by Fuel Ventures, solves a common interior design frustration: spotting gorgeous furniture on Pinterest or Instagram only to find it impossible to locate in the real world. By uploading a screenshot or image of design inspiration, users can instantly track down the exact product or similar items within budget.

How the AI Works

The platform's artificial intelligence examines uploaded images, dissecting them by shape, material, colour, and texture. It then generates accurate visual matches from a wide selection of over 100 major UK and US homeware brands, including Anthropologie, Wilko, Furniture123, Emma, Ruggable, Wolf and Badger, Living and Home, Secret Linen, Vonhaus, Dunelm, and Marks and Spencer.

Founder Giedre Gabrenaite explained the core issue: "We built ShopHomeStyles to close the gap between inspiration and purchase, helping people discover the products they actually want, not just the products that happen to rank highest in search results."

Personal Testing Results

As a home décor enthusiast, I tested the platform by searching for an alternative to my dream Oliver Bonas bedspread (the Patchwork Star Multicolour Velvet Quilt), which retails at £165. The AI presented several options: the Iluka Printed Quilted Bedspread from Anthropologie at £148, the Glassette Stella Quilted 100% Cotton Bedspread from Secret Linen at £149 (reduced to £119.20), and a budget-friendly Catherine Lansfield Autumn Patchwork Geometric Bedspread from Dunelm at £35.

The platform also directed me to Anthropologie's £78 Two-Way Printed Quilted Throw Blanket. Users can refine results by brand, price threshold, and colour after uploading an image.

Product Range and Suggestions

Beyond direct matches, the search engine offers fresh inspiration for alternative design elements. It covers small accents like tableware, cutlery, and kitchen storage bottles, as well as major furniture investments such as sofas, bed frames, and pouffes. For shoppers without a specific inspiration photo, the site allows browsing by room type or individual items like lights, snuggle chairs, and bedspreads.

One suggestion for improvement would be the inclusion of more budget-friendly UK brands like Oliver Bonas, H&M Home, Dusk, Habitat, and La Redoute, as the current selection leans towards premium names.

Comparison to Other Retailers

This is not entirely unlike Wayfair, which stocks items from B&M, Bedsure, Simba, Ninja, Le Creuset, and Furniture Box alongside its own-brand products. Once shoppers find their ideal piece on Shop Home Styles, they are directed to the brand's website to complete the purchase.
