Frozen Food Supplier Quality Bites Collapses Into Liquidation

Quality Bites, a frozen food supplier that stocked more than 1,000 independent supermarkets, has closed after collapsing into liquidation. The company was voluntarily wound up on October 7, according to The Gazette.

Company Background and Closure

The frozen food business was established in May 2013 and operated as a halal frozen food brand, selling a range of products including samosas, kebabs, and crispy chicken. The West Midlands-based company described itself as “one of the leading manufacturers of ethnic foods in the UK”.

Deviesh Raikundalia of Hall Chadwick (UK) Limited has been appointed as liquidator. The resolutions for winding-up and notices to creditors were published by The Gazette on October 22.

Impact and Business Context

Quality Bites worked with retailers, wholesalers, and distributors nationwide, supplying products to more than 1,000 independent supermarkets and grocery stores.

The closure follows a difficult year in British business, with high street names such as Claire's and Quiz forced to close all their remaining stores after falling into administration. Whitbread, which operates Premier Inn, also closed all its standalone branded restaurants across the UK, including Brewers Fayre and Beefeater, affecting around 30,000 staff across the two chains.
