TV Chef Damu Dies Aged 72 After Denying Death Hoax

Celebrity chef Damu, known for his television appearances and a Guinness World Record, has died aged 72 following a period of poor health. His death comes just months after he was forced to release a video denying rumours of his own demise.

Death Hoax Denied in August

Earlier this year, speculation about his death began circulating online, prompting the chef to release a video message in August. In it, he confirmed he was alive and clarified that a leg injection had stopped him from attending a Cooku With Comali semi-final episode. He said he had participated in the finale.

Career and Achievements

Damu rose to fame after appearing on Jaya TV and Star Vijay, and as a judge on the hit cooking reality programme Cooku With Comali. He became a viewer favourite and earned the affectionate nickname Damu Appa from fans. He also wrote more than 200 books and was known for bringing regional Indian cuisine to audiences across the world.

He secured a Guinness World Record after preparing 617 dishes over 24 hours and 30 minutes during a cooking marathon, reports the Express.
