Morrisons has introduced two limited-edition Walkers crisp flavours for the festive season, sparking a mixed reaction among shoppers. The new varieties, Pigs in Blankets and Crispy Roast Potatoes, are now available in stores and are expected to divide opinion.
Festive Flavours Hit Shelves
The first flavour, Pigs in Blankets, is described as "rich, smoky and seasoned to perfection" and is suitable for vegetarians, unlike the traditional festive dish. The product description reads: "Since 1948, we've believed your Joy is worth celebrating. So we're serving one of the most-loved flavours of the Christmas spread - Pigs in Blankets."
The second offering, Crispy Roast Potatoes flavour, is described as "crispy, golden and seasoned to perfection," with the description adding: "We're toasting our nation's favourite roastie."
Shopper Reactions
When images of the crisps were shared on the New Foods UK Facebook page, they received over 180 likes and numerous enthusiastic comments. One food lover responded: "Might have to try them," while others tagged friends and mentioned visiting Morrisons to buy packets.
However, some shoppers expressed confusion. One customer commented: "Pigs in blankets just taste the same as smoky bacon flavour." Another questioned: "So potato flavoured potatoes?" and a second remarked: "I was thinking the same thing."
Defending the New Flavours
Despite the scepticism, one commenter defended the crisps, stating: "Yep, sounds weird, but actually a really good flavour." The limited-edition products are part of the supermarket's early Christmas range, which has arrived before Halloween and Bonfire Night.
