Walkabout, a popular bar on St Mary Street in Cardiff city centre, will close its doors next month after its operator deemed the site "no longer commercially viable".
The bar will serve its final customers on Saturday, September 5. The chain described the decision as a difficult one in a statement released on Wednesday.
Statement thanks staff and guests
In the statement, a spokesman for Walkabout thanked the bar's guests and staff for their support. He said: "The hospitality sector continues to face significant challenges. After careful consideration, and despite our best efforts, the site is no longer commercially viable and we have taken the difficult decision to close Walkabout Cardiff."
He added: "We would like to thank our hard-working team for their commitment and dedication. We would also like to thank our guests and the local community for their support over the years."
Impact on the local area
The closure removes one of the city centre's longstanding venues from St Mary Street. The company did not specify whether staff would be redeployed to other sites.
