UK travel firm Groupia goes bust after 24 years

Groupia Ltd, a UK travel company based in Bath that specialized in group holidays including stag and hen weekends, has entered administration and ceased all operations. The company, which had been running for 24 years, appointed Nigel Fox and Christopher Marsden of S&W Partners LLP as Joint Administrators on June 16, 2026.

Company Background and Services

Founded in 2002, Groupia helped over 750,000 holidaymakers arrange group trips across the UK and Europe, including destinations such as Barcelona, Croatia, Prague, and Split. The company traded under several brands, including Groupia Golf, GoHen, StagWeb, Groupia School Trips, and Company Away Day. Its mission was to provide 'group travel, made easy,' offering spa retreats, golf trips, corporate weekend getaways, and team tours. The company managed split payments and coordination for group bookings.

Impact on Existing and Future Bookings

A notice on the Groupia website stated: 'The Company has now ceased taking new bookings, and arrangements are in place with ABTOT to support customers with existing bookings.' Customers with bookings on or before August 31, 2026, were assured their trips would go ahead as planned. The statement added: 'ABTOT have arrangements in place, and your event is expected to go ahead as planned. Please continue to use the Company's existing VIP booking system to manage your booking.'

However, holidays booked from September 1, 2026, onwards will be cancelled, and customers are entitled to a refund. The administrators said: 'Your event will unfortunately be cancelled and is subject to a refund claim.' They advised customers to check how they paid for further details on claiming refunds via the company website.

Company History and Founder's Story

According to the company's website, the idea for Groupia began in 1999 when founder Simon Denning struggled to find a quality travel provider for his best man duties. The site noted: 'In 1999, Groupia's founder Simon Denning found himself staring down the barrel of a Best Man invitation, having little luck in finding a quality travel provider that could deal with different-sized groups and deliver high levels of customer care. One happy wedding, a funny wedding speech and some questionable wedding dancefloor moves later, StagWeb was born.' The company grew to serve over 750,000 clients and was praised for making group trips easier and affordable.
