A little-known booking trick from TUI could help British holidaymakers secure return flights from as little as £30 for their summer getaways. Insiders at the travel giant have revealed that the company's dedicated 'Cheap Flights' page is where heavily reduced fares are released, often due to unsold seats on planes.
How the Trick Works
According to TUI UK’s Commercial Director Chris Logan, the key is to book just a few weeks before departure. This strategy can apply to both short-haul destinations like Spain, Greece, Portugal, and Turkey, as well as long-haul trips to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Thailand. Logan explained: "If you’ve got a bit of flexibility, this is one of the easiest ways to find a great-value getaway. It’s not something everyone knows about, but checking our flights page regularly can uncover some genuinely low fares, especially closer to departure as we look to fill remaining seats."
Because TUI Airways operates from 22 airports across the UK, travellers can often depart from a regional airport near them. The trick works best for those who can be flexible with dates and destinations, but the summer holidays span six weeks, offering opportunities even during peak season.
Examples of Cheap Fares
The cheapest fares, starting from £30, are typically available outside school holiday dates, such as in June or early July. For instance, return flights to Majorca start at £30 per person, to Ibiza from £63, and to Tenerife from £82. Even during busier periods, savings are possible.
Alternative Booking Tools
This TUI hack is not the only way to find bargains. Skyscanner's 'anywhere' feature allows users to input dates and see all cheap flight deals for that window. Similarly, easyJet's 'Inspire me' tool lets travellers enter a travel window and holiday type to see affordable options.
For those willing to be spontaneous, these tools can unlock significant savings on summer travel.
