The Beefy Boys to open first Welsh restaurant in Cardiff

Award-winning burger brand The Beefy Boys is opening its first Welsh restaurant in Cardiff in 2027. The new venue, due to launch next March, is expected to create more than 70 jobs in the city centre.

From back gardens to national recognition

The independent brand began as four childhood friends cooking burgers in their back gardens in Herefordshire. It has since grown into a nationally recognised restaurant group, winning titles including best burger and best burger chef at the 2023 National Burger Awards.

The first-ever Welsh restaurant will be located at 12 Wharton Street, Cardiff.

Co-founder on the long-awaited move

Co-founder Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy said: “Ever since we opened our first restaurant in Hereford, Cardiff has been right at the top of our wish list.

“Over the last ten years we've looked at opening there pretty much every single year but we've always said it had to be the right location and the right building. We think we've finally found it. It's been a long time coming, and we're genuinely so excited to finally make it happen.”

Local sourcing and expansion

The Beefy Boys uses grass-fed beef from its Herefordshire hometown and champions local suppliers wherever possible, combining American-inspired flavours with an independent approach.

Cardiff will become the brand’s first Welsh restaurant, joining existing locations in Hereford, Shrewsbury, Cheltenham, Bath, Oxford, Nottingham, Exeter and Cambridge. The group also operates two travelling food trucks, taking its burgers to events and festivals nationwide.

Further details about the Cardiff restaurant and recruitment opportunities will be announced in the coming months.
