TCGsNTreats, a store dedicated to trading cards, is set to open at Liverpool's Metquarter. The shopping complex is preparing to welcome the new retailer, which describes itself as "the ultimate trading card destination" for collectors, hobbyists, and gamers.
The store will stock a wide range of anime and sports cards, including popular brands such as One Piece, NBA, NFL, UFC, and Pokémon. Pokémon cards, in particular, have drawn large crowds across the city centre on a regular basis.
Pokémon Card Queues and Community
Pokémon card collectors have been known to queue in force for rare card releases, with some bringing camping chairs and waiting for hours. In June, fans waited for booster packs such as the The Pokémon TCG: First Partner Illustration Collection—Series 2. The trading card game has gathered a loyal following, with large queues appearing at various shops around Liverpool every time a special new pack is released.
TCGsNTreats has grown a community on TikTok with its live Pokémon surprise sets and opening videos racking up tens of thousands of views.
New Location and Opening Plans
The store is preparing to open a physical site on the ground floor of Metquarter, opposite the Urban Calm Spa toward the back of the complex. Announcing its arrival, TCGsNTreats said: "We have a amazing new location. Liverpool we will be open in the next few weeks." An opening date is yet to be announced.
Past Releases and Future Impact
In May, eager fans waited outside the likes of Lime Street’s Worlds Apart, Liverpool ONE’s TJ Jones and Lord Street’s Sport Direct for the release of limited-edition expansion pack, Chaos Rising. Another Pokémon TCG limited edition release sold out within 15 minutes of opening time at Worlds Apart, not far from Lime Street Station, in April.
On Pokémon Day 2026, which celebrated the release of the very first Pokémon video games in Japan 30 years ago, fans queued for hours outside the LEGO shop in Liverpool ONE for three exclusive Pokémon-themed sets worth £579.
In March, Jennina O’Neill, centre manager at Metquarter, told the ECHO: "As we look ahead, our main focus continues to be strengthening our retailer mix, presenting opportunities for more businesses to open their doors in a prime, city centre location and ensuring Metquarter plays a valuable role in the future of Liverpool’s high street."
