Spud Bros Express, the jacket potato brand that drew 4am queues at its North Tyneside launch, will open a second North East branch next month. The new outlet will be at the EG On The Move service on Mercantile Road (the B1284) in Rainton, Houghton-le-Spring, on Tuesday, November 3, with doors opening at 12pm and free spuds for the first 100 customers.
Rapid expansion and loyal fans
The brand, started by brothers Jacob and Harley Nelson, has seen huge queues across the UK and has expanded overseas to Europe, Australia and Taiwan. Its first North East Express opened in June at the EG On The Move services at Cobalt Park/Shiremoor in North Tyneside, which Spud Bros described as their biggest launch to date.
On opening day, a mum and daughter lined up from 4am and were rewarded with a Supermarket Sweep style trolley dash inside the service station. The brand also took a truck to The Hoppings, where crowds again gathered to try the jacket potatoes.
New branch promises and launch details
The new Rainton branch promises 'Big SpudBros flavours. Good vibes (& some proper northern hospitality. Fresh hot spuds, lashings of toppings and zero stingy portions and the team ready to welcome you with a smile.'
As with the North Tyneside location, doors will open at 12pm, with free jacket potatoes for the first 100 customers in the queue.
