Odeon UK cinema chain to raise subscription prices from Dec 1

Odeon, a major UK cinema chain with more than 100 locations, has confirmed it will raise subscription prices from December 1. The increase means loyal customers on its Limitless plans will pay an extra £12 a year.

New Prices for Existing Subscribers

The chain offers two subscription plans: Odeon Limitless at £16.99 per month and Odeon Limitless Plus at £19.99 per month. From December 1, existing subscribers will see their monthly fees rise to £17.99 and £20.99, respectively.

Both plans include unlimited film viewing, 10% off food and drink, invitations to member-only screenings, a special birthday treat, and 10% off online tickets for friends and family. The key difference is that Limitless Plus provides access to ODEON Luxe and screen upgrades, while basic Limitless members must pay extra for Luxe cinemas.

Customer Reactions

New members signing up now will pay the higher prices immediately. The announcement has drawn mixed reactions, with some customers expressing frustration. One person said: "Typical, I only just signed up and the price [has] already gone up a quid." Another warned they would "cancel" if Odeon increases the cost "anymore".

However, others were more accepting. One customer praised the plans, calling them "still excellent value for money", while another said: "Can't complain with how much I go."

Student Discount and Reasons

Students can receive a 20% discount on Limitless Plus when verified through Student Beans. Odeon's website states: "We're offering a whopping 20% off Limitless Plus for students when verified through Student Beans. Cinema-lovers, you can now watch as many movies as you like, whenever you like, now for only £16.79/month – saving you £4.20/month."

It is understood the pricing has been updated to reflect increased operational costs and to support ongoing improvements for customers.
