Spud Bros Express will open its second North East store in Rainton on Tuesday, November 3, offering 100 free jacket potatoes to the first customers through the doors.
The new branch at the services on Mercantile Road will welcome customers from 12pm until 9pm. The first 100 visitors will receive a complimentary spud, and the advice is to arrive early to secure one.
Strong regional demand
The opening follows the success of the region's first Spud Bros Express, which launched in the summer at the EG On the Move services in Newcastle. Some people lined up from 4am to be among the first to try the offerings there.
Interest in the Rainton launch has been high, with many people indicating attendance on the Facebook event page, raising the possibility of similar scenes at the Mercantile Road services.
Expansion across the country
Tyne & Wear is one of 21 new locations confirmed for this year alone, marking a significant phase in the partnership between SpudBros, Taster and EG On The Move. SpudBros Express has been designed for high-footfall locations, delivering freshly prepared, fully loaded jacket potatoes in minutes without compromising on quality, flavour or portion size.
The format aims to cater to customers throughout the day, whether for a quick lunch on a long drive, a stop between meetings or an early morning bite. A recently introduced breakfast menu reflects the ambition to make SpudBros a go-to choice from the first mile of the journey to the last.
Each location, including the new one at Rainton, serves the brand's cult-favourite menu items, from the Tram Classic, loaded with garlic butter, SpudBros' signature three-cheese mix, beans, crispy onions and Tram Sauce, to the Spudfather, topped with chilli con carne, tuna coleslaw and bolognese, alongside the build-your-own option.
Founders' excitement
Having already taken North Tyneside by storm this year and seen people lining up to try their jacket potatoes at The Hoppings in Newcastle, founders Jacob and Harley Nelson are excited to return.
Jacob Nelson, co-founder of SpudBros, said: "We're buzzing to be bringing SpudBros to Tyne and Wear and opening the doors in Houghton-le-Spring. The North East has always shown us loads of love online, so getting to bring the full SpudBros experience closer to people here is really exciting for us. It's mad seeing how quickly SpudBros Express is growing around the country, but wherever we open, it's still all about serving proper, fully loaded spuds and giving people great value. We can't wait to see everyone down there and the first 100 spuds are on us!"
The Rainton store is set to open at 12pm on Tuesday and will remain open until 9pm.
