The Duchess of Sussex has outed herself as a charity shop enthusiast, arriving at a wedding in Rome last week wearing a pair of £5 earrings borrowed from a friend who bought them on a Portobello Road stall. The revelation has delighted bargain hunters across the UK, who share her passion for secondhand treasures.
Jender Anomie, a 28-year-old artist from Bexhill, Sussex, found a Versace miniskirt for £2.50 in a Fulham charity shop and later sold it for £75 on Depop. 'I probably underpriced it,' she admitted. Similarly, Isabelle O'Carroll, a 37-year-old writer from London, discovered a Burberry trenchcoat for £6 in a Brighton charity shop. 'My heart stopped when I picked it up,' she recalled.
Not all finds are intentional. Sian Norris, a 35-year-old journalist from Bristol, bought a label-less tea-dress on eBay for £27, only to discover it was covered in YSL monogram print.
