Saucy Bird, a restaurant promising a "loud" and "messy" dining experience, is preparing to open on Lord Street in Southport. The "hands on" concept centres on rotisserie chickens and "not worrying about keeping it tidy".
New home for Saucy Bird
The business has taken over the premises most recently occupied by French-style restaurant Bistrot Pierre, which closed in May 2025. Saucy Bird already operates kitchens in Bromley, Wanstead and Clapham South, with Southport marking its first expansion to the north.
The restaurant focuses on rotisserie chickens, sauces and sharing. The company describes itself as offering "simple food done properly", with an honest description of what guests can expect.
What guests can expect
The website states: "We're Saucy Bird. No shortcuts. No scripts. No forgettable food. Just rotisserie chicken, bold sauces, and a table built for sharing."
It adds: "The chicken lands in the middle. The sauce gets poured. And from there, it's hands on — passing plates, picking at pieces, and not worrying about keeping it tidy. It's a little messy. A little loud. And exactly how it's meant to be."
The site also says: "Not fast food. Not formal. Just simple food, done properly — in a space people want to stay in."
Opening preparations underway
Signs have gone up in the Lord Street premises with final preparations underway for the grand opening. The date is yet to be confirmed, but is expected in the coming weeks.
